Senior Seminar Work
In my final semester at Clemson, I took a senior seminar course in the English Department: How to Have Sex in the Renaissance. The word "sex" did not have the same meaning in Renaissance discourse as it does today; therefore, when reading Renaissance works, eroticism is displayed through many more plays on words. In this course, we read and discussed many Renaissance works with the focus of potential eroticism in the works and the purpose and meaning behind it. I surprised myself by how much I enjoyed this class and was further surprised by how well-received my insights into the works were that seemed counter-intuitive to the approach to the class. I wrote two papers for the course - a six page and a seventeen page - and have attached them as representations of my critical thinking about a work.
